I pretty much dominate the world, in every possible way. My presence is alluring to 99% of the population, and my talents are way beyond describing. Haha, no but seriously, I enjoy anything related to the internet or photography. I am a nerd, I love it, enjoy it, crave it, desire it, and will die with it.

Depression: You know what drives me

160b_better_living.jpg
Nuts. You know what drives me nuts? This crazy drive inside me that wants to be something great, wants to accomplish something, wants to feel like somebody. But every damn day, something holds me back, I have been trying to fix this for the last 6 months! Some days, I get this incredible fire in me that believes in me, a huge confidence boost. 15 minutes later something hits me, turns my brain off and any ambition I desire is destroyed, it instantly turns me into a lazy piece of shit. Does anyone know why? I have tried so many different things, and it only works for about a week. What will cure me from this disease? It’s seriously killing me by the day! Motivational toolsets are beyond what I need right now, if I figure the cure out, I’ll be sure to blog about it.

  1. Sounds a lot like symptoms of someones that is bi-polar?
I have seen you blog about this before, and it doesn’t seem to go away. Maybe thats something you should look into.

  2. Know the feeling. I get in that negative-zone, and go out and get some fresh air on the motorcycle, hit the gym, or even just go for a walk and get my mind free and psych myself back up.

  3. get some coffee :)

  4. A lot of people I’ve run into told me that you were a douche, but after reading this blog… I must disagree. Interesting articles, keep on blogging. I’ll be incorporating the personal unit test into my life.

    Cheers

  5. I have the same issue… as I pull 19 hour days, travel my ass off, and try to work on 3 businesses at the same time. Laziness and depression always get in the way. The thing that has made a difference for me is a hardcore workout every morning. I know its something everyone knows to do, however when you regularly focus on a well formed body building routine and cardio, and learn how to set goal by goal in your fitness that you achieve… it will leave a mark on all other areas of your life. Trust me… I speak from experience.

  6. Robert: Tried it, but I can keep trying that. I guess I really don’t do it much.

    Vedran: I love coffee, haha

AJ: I don’t wanna be a douche, lol. I do this personal unit test everyday, it’s awesome

Rudy: Man that’s tough, I can barely get myself up sometimes, let alone force me to workout :)

  7. Colin: It’s possible I guess.

  8. I have the very same problem…. I have been working on the same businesses for some time now and never finish them.

I would agree with Robert is saying.. Go to the gym, then your juiced and ready to be productive..

Being lazy is the easiest and most fun thing to do. I think that’s everyones problem. We just have to do the things to get things done. Even if it means we don’t like it.

  9. I’ve been on the up lately, not sure why :)

  10. I don’t think you got to read my message, so I guess this would be a better place to post.

I think what you’re experiencing is also a bit of procrastination. I’m going through something similar. I’ve been wanting to do certain things for a month now, move forward and do more than just web design (and get some personal things done)… one moment im very excited and have all these ideas, a few minutes later i have no motivation to accomplish the task and tell myself I’ll do it some other day. I’ts been like that for a long time, almost a year. iIthink the best thing to do is just not plan every last detail in your day and just get things done by thinking to yourself what the pros and cons of doing the said task would be.

The pros will always outweigh the cons, but that may not be enough. Once you have that ambition, dont let it go away easily. ive had a membership at the New York Sports Club since may and I’ve been there for less than a month. I’m pay $1000 a year… I say I’m going to visit every day but something always coems up. I guess it’s mostly due to being a bit lazy. Starting tomorrow I’m going to try and change this… and take my own advice. Good luck!

  11. Andrew, I can honestly say I have been suffering from the same ailment for as long as I can remember now. I have tried everything to rid myself of it.

When I say everything, I mean everything; Religious Piety, Philosophy, Time Management, Fitness, Sports, Nutrition, Medication, Meditation, Martial Arts, Endurance Training, Workaholism, Sex, Alcohol, Drugs, Entrepreneurialism, Writing, Art, Dancing, Narcissism, Music, Vocalism, Photography, Skateboarding, Surfing, Snowboarding, Skydiving… and just plain not giving a damn. You name it, the list goes on.

For myself, I can honestly say I have discovered through it all that one thing and one thing alone has helped me fight my constant depression and unfading inclination to laziness/procrastination.

Companions. I found that I was too independent and not interdependent enough. It takes a greater level of maturity to go from independence to interdependence in terms of paradigm shift. We, as individuals, need one another to lean on and help “correct course” along the way to our life’s endeavors.

Try to develop more synergy and positive companionship with partners and best friends whom you can rely on not to let you lay down and procrastinate.

You are correct in referring to depression as a disease. Having a family full of recovered drug addicts and alcoholics, I can attest first hand that many of my family members would not be alive today if they hadn’t learned to co-depend on other people to help them when the disease of substance abuse was growing difficult to bear.

Stop thinking you have to do everything alone. Find those people you can rely on to keep you on track and bring them into the fight.

    Best wishes and much respect,
    Sin
