My iPhone complaints…

I picked it up June 29th waiting in line for 7 hours with a few of my friends, we were 6th in line out of probably 60 people. Oh man, it was fun! I got the iPhone, and have paid more attention to it than my lady friends, lol. The iPhone is awesome, except for a few things that piss me off. I have this issue with every phone though…

The fucks up I think they intend on fixing (at least heard that Apple will fix these issues through software updates)
- File browser (Umm… Can’t browse my files…)
- Microsoft Exchange Direct Push Support / ActiveSync
- Custom ringtones (were they dumb or did they just forget this?)
- Adobe flash support on web pages (I mean come on?)
- No IM program, iChat, MSN, AIM, ugh…

Stupid fuck ups
- They made it a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, but decided to fucking recess it down about 3mm, so you cant plug a straight auxillary cable or headphone jack into if you dont have an adapter.
- No video recording, wtf, lol.
- No picture messaging, but I guess everyone has email now right?

Fix all this and I will be 100% happy.

  1. I was in the at&t store earlier today messing around with the iPhone. Can you get on AIM with a browser?

I tried AIM Express but the pop up blocker would not let me access it. I then tried some javascript one especially made for the iphone but it didn’t work too well.

Are you used to the keyboard yet? I kept missing every key, my finger is too big.

  2. You can use meebo, and it’s perfect to log onto aim/msn, although a client app would be much better, cause EDGE is just unacceptable sometimes.

The keyboard seriously learns how you type, I am fucking fast at it now lol

  3. oh okay. do you think all of these can be done through the iTunes update or what?

i don’t know if i should wait. I went in today and the 8gb were sold out so i’m gonna try tomorow morning

  4. Everything I listed should be fixable via iTunes except for the headphone jack issue.

  5. wow.. i can’t believe you actually got one.. that’s great.. atleast you got one ;)

  6. .. but its good to hear your feedback on it!

  7. I have heard some terrible things about the iPhone which is why I refuse to buy it..

I hope your keyboard doesn’t break, like it has done for sooooooo many people already haha

  8. Andrew Ellis, you do realize anything that breaks (the keyboard cant physically break) in the functionality of the phone is covered by a 1 year warranty. refusing to buy one is silly.

i hope these software updates come fucking soon though!!

as for the custom ringtones.. i dont think this will be possible for a while. unfortunately, they make way way too much money selling ring tones to allow the use of your $1.03 song

I didn’t expect apple to make something so kickass, but then again they still had to go and fuck things up by installing OS X. I would much rather run the thing on Windows ME….

  9. Most of the problems I’ve had with mine are merely software related which can easily be fixed. Other than that, I’m fairly happy with it. :)

  10. Eric, is it really silly?

    1) The phone only costs $220 to manufacture, so they have it marked up about %50.
    2) You have to lock yourself into a two year contract with one of the worst phone carriers, AT&T.
    3) You have to pay $100 a month to use the iPhone.
    4) After the first year’s use, you have spent about $1,700 on this iPhone.

All of this breaks down into the category of: Do you really NEED this?

Spending that much on a phone is just silly.

And after dealing with my iPod and it’s warranty, the return policy is a joke. I had to send my iPod in 5 TIMES to get a new one… When I knew the product was broken.

My headphone jack was broken, and the iPod would also lock up all the time.

Each time I got my iPod back they said they fixed it by replacing the hard drive. But no once did they fix the headphone jack. Also after about another weeks worth of use, the iPod would start to lock up again.

Honestly, I’m not impressed with Apple’s support from my experience with my iPod. But I’m probably just a rare case of the bad support.

And don’t get me wrong, I love Apple and all of their products. I just think it’s stupid how they can make things so expensive and people actually will fork it out and buy these things.

I guess most of the people who buy these things are uneducated when it comes to understanding what things should really cost.

  11. ipod video - 300.00
    PDA = 200.00
    phone = 250 for a decent one
    (or) pda phone = 300

total: 600+ (note the cost of the apple iphone.. 8gb…) pretty reasonable if you ask me.

yes ALL electronics have glitches, and apple knows how to market well.

one more correction. i am paying 45 a month to use the phone for 450 minutes and 200 text. I added 15.00 to the bill for 1500 text.. 60.00 total is 40.00 away from the 100 stated above.

.. yes it would be silly to not buy one. lol

  12. Exactly why I didn’t want to get one… THANK YOU LORD! My Helio > iPhone…

  13. It all boils down to if you can afford it too.

I’m not saying i wouldn’t love to have one, but it’s way out of my budget. :(

I paid $10 for my phone, and I pay $50 a month for 1,500 minutes, 1,000 texts, internet access, picture mail, and a few other things.

To be honest, I hate the shit out of my phone though. It sucks. It was good at first, but now it’s just terrible.

Maybe if the iPhone was supported by another carrier such as Verizon or Sprint I would probably get it because I’m sure they’d offer the phone for way cheaper if you sign up for a 2 year contract :)
